KYLE’S COMEBACK
Kyle Legault is set to make his Premier League comeback for Birmingham in their
trip to King’s Lynn on Friday. The injury-hit side was hoping to include him in
their septet for their home encounter against the Stars, but the averages have
prevented Graham Drury from fitting him in.
The absence of Jack Hargreaves means that Drury could only track Legault by
including a Conference League rider at reserve. Understandably, the Brummies
boss didn’t want to put a home win at risk by having an unbalanced side, and
the extra few days will enable the Canadian’s thigh to get stronger.
Legault crashed heavily in their home match against Rye House on April 2 and
broke his right thigh. Initially it seemed that he could be ruled for the rest
of the season, but he has worked very hard to make an earlier-than-expected return.
“I’m hoping to salvage something from this season and finish it on a good note with
some solid scores,” says Kyle. “I’ve worked really hard since the injury in the
gym and with a physio to get as fit as I can. I am as fit as any rider out there,
but I don’t have the meetings under my belt.
“I can’t believe how many injuries there has been at Birmingham alone. It is
very disappointing, but what can you do? You just gotta get on with it and the
team has done well under the circumstances.”
